–Xiang Tzu after he lost in the Hundred School Tournament.

Xiang Tzu, also known as "Xander", is a character in Shadow Fight 3, met in Chapter II: Dynasty.

Storyline[]

Chapter II: Dynasty[]

When the player returns to Galen's school after dealing with the rookie Herald, Galen introduces them to Xiang Tzu, his best student. Not even waiting for the introductions to finish, Xiang Tzu immediately challenges the player to a fight stating that a duel is his right as the school's champion. His sudden animosity leads Galen to wonder whether it is a result of the player's Legion-oriented background. However, he admits he cannot deny Xiang Tzu the right and so a fight between him and the player is set.

After Xiang Tzu is defeated, he immediately makes his decision to leave Galen's school. He warns the player that he will avenge his loss and humiliation in the Hundred School Tournament. He departs promptly, taking all of Galen's students with him. Since he was to represent the school in the tournament, Galen asks the player to step in and fulfill his role instead.

When the player reaches the tournament's finals, they find out that their opponent is to be none other than Xiang Tzu, who has now joined an opposing Heralds school and fights with their style. Over-sure of himself, Xiang Tzu remarks that he is no longer the player's inferior and will beat them with his new, awesome style. He claims that, being a fast learner, he has already mastered the Herald's fighting style. Despite his boast, it becomes clear very soon how little proficiency Xiang Tzu posses when it comes to his new style. Throughout the fight, he constantly trips and falls whenever he is tries to pull a difficult combo. Once more, he loses to the player.

After his defeat, Xiang Tzu remarks that this was not the last the player has seen of him and that he will study all the styles in the world and find one that the player cannot win against.

After some unknown circumstances, Xiang Tzu is captured and thrown to the prison in Legion Fortress. There, he continues to train himself and adopts the nickname Xander. After hard trainings and as a result of the harsh environment, Xiang Tzu finally mastered all the known fight style, all the while his posture has improved as well; his body now has become muscular. He wins the gladiator-styled prison fights five times, gaining the respect of all the Dynastian prisoners and becoming their leader.

Chapter VI: Heart of the Legion[]

I'm an absolute Champion of the North, five-time winner of the Legion prison fights. I am Xander the Immortal!
–Xiang Tzu boasting himself.

Xiang Tzu started a riot in the prison, and he leads the prisoners to join Deng Rao's army on approach. However, Sarge knows this and he takes the party to confront him. Fate makes them meet once again, Xiang Tzu boasts everything he has achieved to the player, challenging them to fight once again. Despite his mastery with his triple-style and empowering himself with the power of fire to become immune to knockbacks from all attacks, he, for the third time, loses to the player. He claims that he has mastered all the known styles just to defeat the player, and such minor loss will not stop him. Only to be brushed off by Itu, as they have heard the same thing before.

Some times after the player entered the time portal with Shadow Mind, Shadow takes over the Legion and destroy both the Dynasty capital and Heralds Dome. Xiang Tzu allied with Kibo's crew in an attempt to defeat Shadow, but is unfortunately caught by the demons and was consumed by them when he was fighting his master, Galen, who had become fallen to the power of the demons and led them to a trap.

Xiang Tzu's Adventure: Feeding Demons[]

Years have passed since Shadow returned. The whole world has changed, even the demons. The story starts with Lynx and Butcher quarrelling. Lynx is furious as Butcher as returned to him, despite the fact that he spared him the last time he fought him and resigned himself to not seeing him ever again. Butcher is fed up by his antics and is here to get what he needs. Lynx then tells him that he was referring to the time when he underestimated his elegant attire and called him a fool for that. He forgave him assuming that he was not in his right mind. He feels glad seeing Butcher came to apologize. He is wrong however. Butcher is not interested in his chatter at all and wonders if Lynx got new dreams. Lynx is disappointed about being wrong about Butcher. He accepts the fact that not everyone is capable of self-improvement, very few are, yet Lynx treated Butcher like his own blood. He also prepared some dreams for him. Butcher is running out of patience. He orders him to stop talking and show him the dreams. Lynx then shows Butcher the dream of a mortal named Xiang Tzu, assuming they are made for him and he will like it. Xiang Tzu and an old man with inhuman eyes, Millenium Wolf are conversing in the Legion throne room. Xiang Tzu asks Millenium Wolf about Shadow as he is looking for him, to which Millenium Wolf replies that Shadow is not here and he is looking for someone else. Xiang Tzu then tells Millenium Wolf that Shadow was in the throne room and he is the ruler of the Legion. He wants to take revenge from Shadow for what he has done. Millenium Wolf replies by saying Shadow has never been here and asks him who his master is and orders him to show him his skills, indicating that if he proves himself worthy, he will become one of them. Xiang Tzu accepts his challenge and agrees to show him a bit of his skills. During the fight, Millenium Wolf then suddenly remembers him and that he already gave him the gift of Fire once in the past. He then questions Xiang Tzu how all these years in his world passed and what he has learned and become. Xiang Tzu then tells him that a war broke and Shadow killed his people. They do not live anymore, they survive. He wants to make Shadow pay. Millenium Wolf rebukes him by saying excuses are for children, not warriors. He who stands still will never reach immortality and this is the law of Ice. He also informs Xiang Tzu that he is slowly dying. Millenium Wolf then gives Xiang Tzu an offer since he has already come a long way, to take the last step: become the master of his Fire. If he controls him, he will enter the Realm of Infinity. Conversely, if the Fire takes controls over him, he may become a food for the demons. Millenium Wolf informs him that the demons are watching him at this very moment. Butcher asks Lynx what that old man said about demons. Lynx then reminds him of telling him that the Ancients know about them. Butcher then asks if Millenium Wolf is an Ancient, to which Lynx replies in negative, stating he stayed behind to help other mortals. Lynx finds it amusing. Butcher responded with a nonchalant, "Well, whatever". Butcher asks Lynx to tell him more about this kid, Xiang Tzu as he wants to know more about him. Lynx continues. Kibo shakes sleeping Xiang Tzu to wake up him. He wakes up and asks Kibo what she is doing here and where he is. Kibo tells him that he is at the Arsenal. Slowly, he begins to remember how he ended up in the arsenal and asks Kibo how she found him. She suddenly notices someone coming and intends to take care of him. She takes care of the approaching Arsenal corporal and takes him down. After dealing with the corporal, Kibo interrogates Xiang Tzu as to what he is doing in the Arsenal and if he finally went mad while she was away. Xiang Tzu then tells her that he came here to kill Shadow. Kibo then calls him mad for doing for attempting to do something even their best soldiers failed to do alone. Xiang Tzu furiously tells her to stop being smart and asks her where she has been the last month. Kibo promises to tell everything later and says they should go now as Jet is waiting for them. They then leave the arsenal and meet Jet who was awaiting them outside. Jet knew that Xander was so desperate to visit the Arsenal for a tea party. Xiang Tzu is frustrated by people mispronouncing his name as Xander. Kibo tells Jet that Xiang Tzu's main purpose of visiting the Arsenal was to kill Shadow by himself. Jet then calms him down by saying no one is laughing at him and they were all scared to dead. Kibo tells Xiang Tzu in advance that he would be dead by now if Jet had not distracted the Arsenal's guards, which she was while Kibo was looking for him. Xiang Tzu thanks them for their help. He then asks Kibo what she wants from him. Kibo wants him to cooperate a little as it is dangerous to act alone in his condition. Kibo needs his help to save June as she is in trouble. Xiang Tzu, Kibo and Jet then head to the Temple of Shadow (where it is rumored he was once born). While the trio is on its way to the temple, Ling and Galen are arguing. Ling berates Galen for hiding when the Legion destroyed their capital, which he was supposed to guard. Galen answers that he has been to places which Ling has seen only during meditation and offers to him many secrets. Ling admonishes him to not divert from the topic of discussion. The trio arrive just then. Ling is happy to see Kibo again. Galen notices something coming from the temple pool. Ling orders Xiang Tzu and Jet to deal with whatever is coming from the pool and defend the temple. Some weird creatures come out of the pool. Xiang Tzu fights them. During the fight, Kibo advises him to beat the weird creature hard. Xiang Tzu fights and bests all three of them. After the weird creatures are dealt with, Jet notices that these were weak and says that sometimes, it is amazing to see what comes out of the temple pool. Galen is shocked to see how much Xiang Tzu has grown up as he barely recognizes him. Xiang Tzu, on the other hand, is also surprised to see Galen alive after a long while. Galen then suggests that they all take some rest and asks Ling for some tea. While they are resting, Yukka appears and notices the temple crowded with people. She informs Kibo that she has brought the ingredients Master Ling asked for. Kibo introduces Jet, Itu's friend and a skilled mercenary to Yukka. Yukka asks Jet if she works for money, which she questions, thinking if that is her concern, to which Yukka replies in negative that she is not concerned with that at all and she respects that. She then questions the new man she sees, calling him "asymmetrical" and "handsome", which offends Xiang Tzu. He tells Yukka to come closer and find out who he is. Kibo tries to calm him down by saying "asymmetrical" is not an insult. Yukka, however, is fine by Xiang Tzu's enragement and wants him to get a taste of an Insusceptible's blade. Yukka challenges Xiang Tzu to a combat. The enraged Xiang Tzu accepts her challenge and wants to teach her a lesson. Xiang Tzu fights Yukka with all his anger and rage. Her blade is not stronger enough to beat him. Hence Xiang Tzu prevails over her. After being defeated by Xiang Tzu, Yukka commends him for his fighting skills and offers him to join the Insusceptibles. Ling asks her to leave that offer for another time. He has gathered her at the temple for a reason - to defeat Shadow. Furthermore, he tells Yukka that every person of their small circle is extremely useful. He explains that Kibo and Xiang Tzu lost their homeland, Yukka and Jet lost their loved ones. They all want one thing: victory over Shadow. Moreover, he also tells about Galen that he was once an Arrow of Power and a student of Shadow and that he is also siding with them. Galen then comes to them since he has some news for them; he briefly explains that the Dynasty palace was destroyed, and all its inhabitants disappeared without a trace, including the imperial family, but he has reason to believe that they are still there. He actually saw them in the palace. Jet tries to reassure him by telling that nobody is in the palace and she and her people have been living in the palace ruins for two years now. She expresses their confidence in their ability to detect any intruders, emphasizing that even a small creature like a mouse would not go unnoticed. Jet downplays the significance of a whole bunch of nobles compared to their experienced vigilance. Galen says that he has to keep some secrets but tries to convince them that he really has seen them. He then reveals to them that the only one who can defeat Shadow is his Descendant, who disappeared many years ago. He also warns them that if Shadow wins, the world will turn into hell. He continues to tell more things until Ling interrupts him as he cannot take in too much information at the same time. He suggests that they first start testing Galen's first hypothesis as the guys will need some time to think anyway. Then Ling asks Jet to give them a tour of the palace. He can create a portal that will take them there and he does so. They all enter the portal and are transported to an unknown place, which Jet questions. Ling tells them that something went wrong - their trajectory was disrupted, something which never happened before. Moreover, he says that this is some inhuman shadow force. Ling then tells them to be careful as after the catastrophe, anything can appear in this place. Jet calls Galen weird. Xiang Tzu asks the team what to do next, as they cannot tolerate one crazy tyrant because another might be even more crazy. Yukka then tells not to panic and deal with the bots who are attacking them. Kibo takes care of the bots herself. After tackling the bot successfully, Kibo says to the team that this bot reminds her of someone. Xiang Tzu thinks she is tired of living. Kibo tells Jet that Xiang Tzu was once her student, which she finds hard to believe. She also tells Jet that she had her own dojo and he was her best student. Xiang Tzu is speechless. He changes the subject and asks where the broken bots went as he believes that they will die before they come back. Ling talks to Galen at a place where others cannot hear them. Galen asks him why he changed his mind and the last minute. Ling answers this is because he has known him for many years and he was a spy and the best lies have some truth mixed in them. Ling then asks him what part of what he is saying is a lie and how exactly did he deceive the poor children. Ling then warns him that he will not spare him if even a hair falls from Kibo's or Xiang Tzu's head. Galen tries to calm him down by saying that Kibo used to be his agent and his student, until she ran to Ling and it is not possible that he would not know this, but he swears to him that he wishes them well and asks him to believe him. While their two masters were talking, Kibo noticed that Xiang Tzu could hardly stand. Kibo asks him if he is alright, to which Xiang Tzu answers yes, but just stumbled, it seems and his stomach hurts. Jet suspects Xiang Tzu has Shadowshiv, a shadow disease, due to which many of her people died. She also tells that it usually takes a year or two to recover from it. Kibo, however, shuts her up, claiming Xiang Tzu looks good and Heralds will soon find a cure for it. Yukka asks if the cure will be in the basement, until Xiang Tzu suddenly falls again. Xiang Tzu still insists them to believe that he is okay, just something is kicking him. Xiang Tzu fights his invisible enemy and defeats her. After Xiang Tzu defeats his invisible enemy, Galen arrives just then, hoping they were not bored here and wonders why Xiang Tzu is fighting himself again. Kibo requests that they leave this place already. Ling gives the good news that the portal is ready and assures the team that the portal will work this time. Everyone enters the portal and is transported to ruins of the Dynasty capital. As they reach there, Moira runs toward them and alerts Jet and Xiang Tzu that there is a demon among them and they must beware. Jet, calling her a Shadow Bogey, asks her what she is doing here and why she went out alone. Galen finds the girl cute but does not understand what she is mumbling about. Jet tells him that this girl lives with them and is one of the Legionary children but she probably strayed from her village, which she is a bit out of. Yukka counters her by saying that she is not dressed like a village girl. Moira then exclaims that she really hates demons. Jet realizes how upset Moira is. She asks Mina, who is running around on her own to take Moira back. Galen feels something is wrong with that nanny and orders the team to get away from her. Jet then protects the team and fights off the possessed nomad. After Jet, takes the possessed nomad down, she says this is strange as shadows behave well around bogey and her crying scares them and now something is wrong. Galen then realizes that they do not have much time. He presents his plan: Ling will open a special portal and each of them will drink a special potion. Jet refuses to do so as she does not like Galen and she does not believe in this "demon nonsense". Kibo then says that she herself does not like this idea but they have no choice because they have to find June and probably save her. Xiang Tzu orders Jet to take the girl to a safe place and prepare for a fight as he has a bad feeling and says they will return as soon as possible. They all do so as Galen planned and enter the portal and are transported to the Magmium Palace. Upon entrance, Xiang Tzu complains about the evil taste of the potion Galen gave them, as it is making him sick. Galen tells him that it is only him who is falling sick from the potion because of his illness, but there is no way forward without this concoction. Furthermore, he tells that he stole this recipe from a witch. Xiang Tzu then complains about everything looking strange. Galen tells the team that General Marcus is here. Marcus is glad to see Galen, someone who has finally showed up to him. He informs that Shadow is gathering troops to attack the Dynasty. He then questions about where the princess is. Galen is aware of everything and offers to help Marcus, which he denies, considering them a reek of demons. Galen pleads with him to calm down as he has been through a lot. Marcus still remains unwavering in his decision, ordering them all to leave. Xiang Tzu has no choice but to fight him. He and Marcus both start a fierce battle. Marcus is badly defeated. After defeating Marcus, Xiang Tzu comments on his strength and bravery in comparison to the other Northern warriors, but says he talks like a psycho. Yukka tells the team that he is trapped in a nightmare that he cannot wake up from. It seems to her to be the work of Heralds. Kibo rejects Yukka's statement, saying it is something completely different as she feels a different energy. Lynx surprisingly shows up, answering that it is Void Energy that Kibo is feeling and is surprised that Kibo is a sharp girl. Kibo is shocked to see a demon she remembers. Lynx says Galen led them to him and thanks Galen for his help as they would not be able to get here without him. Lynx asks unfortunate General Marcus to bow before the greatest of demons as they are here to free him. Kibo questions what is going on. General Marcus orders Lynx to go away. He knows he is losing his mind and Lynx is just a dream as he thinks which he vows to wake up from one day and find out that Shadow is a cruel tyrant. Lynx tells him that he slaughtered the entire Dynasty and all Heralds without batting an eye. Lynx blames him for allowing Shadow to take the throne of kings and leading the Legion to its destruction, but tells him that he now has a chance to fix everything. He offers to give Marcus power, enough to challenge Shadow and make him a king himself, which Marcus rejects. He orders Lynx to not come near him or else, he will kill him. Lynx respects his choice as he respects the will of mortals. He suggests the others to leave the Magmium Palace as it is a dangerous place. They proceed anyway. Kibo is shocked to know that Galen has made a contract with a demon. Xiang Tzu asks where Galen is. Yukka is surprised to see everyone emotional. In the meanwhile, they are getting surrounded by strange people. Yukka fights Roulan the Punisher, who was the former ruler of Magmium Palace with her cat Shade's assistance and takes her down. After the fight, Kibo realizes that Galen betrayed them as June is not here. Xiang Tzu says he will snap Galen's neck. Yukka advises him to not say that as he was his teacher. Xiang Tzu is confused as to who his real teacher was as he had so many of them including Legionary people, Kibo, people in jail and pit and also that upstart who kept running around June, whose name he does not remember. They were the one who gave him real lessons. Kibo wonders if the upstart he is talking about is Shadow's Descendant. Xiang Tzu is again confused. They all leave the Magmium Palace and go the Wasteland where Jet awaits them. Jet questions the team where they had been as something strange is happening in the Wasteland - beasts are attacking them and they need their assistance, which no one responds to. Jet senses something unusual about them and again asks them for help. The shadowy creatures flooded the square. The nomads hid from them in terror. Jet fears that the beasts are too many and there is no end to them. Xiang Tzu tells Jet to calm down as he can handle the beasts. Xiang Tzu then takes on all the demon soldiers approaching them and beats them all one by one. After Xiang Tzu deals with all the shadow beasts, Galen appears and tells them that he just wanted to illustrate his point and tells them that the demon soldiers will not be bothering them anymore as he controls them. Yukka does not believe them as she sees more demon soldiers coming towards them. Galen then explains them what demons truly are - the demons were all humans once until the shadow world gave them great power, which they can share. He also tells them that power inspires fear and hatred and tells that they are hated because they can instantly kill anyone they want, but it is not their fault. Galen then reveals that if the Emperor was not such a weakling, he could have become an excellent demon but he can do what the Emperor could not. The perfect fusion of the human and shadow spirits is what a demon is. He says that Emperor was afraid of this power because he could not control but he can. Yukka observes that the Emperor has become insane. Kibo is not able to comprehend the fact that Galen made a contract with demons and rebukes him as they are even worse than Shadow, to which Galen responds that Shadow's Descendant is stronger than his father and predicts that one day, the demons will swear their allegiance to him, which he saw in the Void. Galen then makes Kibo and Xiang Tzu aware of Shadow's Descendant's strength over everyone and warns them that all those who dare oppose him and his demons shall perish, as they should value their lives. Kibo does not believe in Galen, as she finds all his statements false. Galen then advises Kibo to side with the power, which she rejects. Xiang Tzu is enraged at Galen for betraying them, although he was his teacher. Galen tells the enraged Xiang Tzu that the Dynasty is no more and this is a new world, the one where there will be no balance and he too will have to choose a side. Xiang Tzu rebukes him for letting Shadow destroy the city and leaving for hugging demons and now wants to end him. Kibo advises him to stop as Master Galen is too powerful and he will not be able to beat him. On the contrary, Jet supports Xiang Tzu and tells Kibo not to stop him and tells Xiang Tzu to teach Galen a lesson. Xiang Tzu does not listen to either of them and silences them and says that although he will die soon anyway, he wants to take Galen with him. Kibo still wants him to stop, but Xiang Tzu still does not listen, even to Jet. Then a fight ensues between a student and his master. Despite Galen being too powerful and having a unique shadow ability with which he can summon portals from which tentacles emerge to attack, Xiang Tzu overcomes him since no one is any match for him, not even his master. However, when Xiang Tzu lands his fatal blow, Kibo tells Xiang Tzu to watch out. Lynx then appears, revealing that he can at least have these two people, before derisively bidding them farewell. Then, Xiang Tzu gets chained, leaving him vulnerable to a final blow from a tentacle which emerges from the last summoned portal. Following this, both Xiang Tzu and his master Galen disintegrate. Jet is shocked to see this and assumes they are dead. Kibo is sad that her companion is gone. Jet and Kibo head to Ling to ask him for help, to no avail. Kibo continues to plead with him to bring Xiang Tzu back. Ling apologizes and reveals that they were eaten by demons if their bodies disappeared in the way they described. Yukka cannot bear the current heat in the bazaar anymore so she desires to leave, but scraps it immediately as she sees a shadow freak approaching them. Kibo tells them not to be afraid of this shadow freak as it is no worse than Xiang Tzu's demise and that they must not let Xiang Tzu's sacrifice, like a true hero of the Dynasty, go waste, which the other two agree with. This demon general seems to be quite strong then any others, which is why the three girls team up to take him down together and they succeed. After the demon general is dealt with, Ling feels guilty for trusting Galen, despite suspecting from the start that he was up to no good, but he hoped that his experience will make a difference. Jet questions him about what will happen next, to which Ling replies nothing. He explains them that the demons do not go hunting that often and they will calm down for a while, but all they can do is hope that their world has not aroused their interest yet. Jet still does not believe in the existence of demons, just like Heralds. She tells Ling that the things he saw here were caused by the Wasteland messing with his head, which is strong especially in their current area. She also doubts Xiang Tzu will return, wherever he is, considering the Wasteland has taken away many people. Seeing Kibo badly wounded, Jet advises all to leave, to which they agree. In the meanwhile, Galen and Xiang Tzu are teleported to a strange place where Xiang Tzu has been before in his dreams, which Galen questions as to if he died, to which Lynx replies yes as his time has come. Galen then asks him why this place is so cold, to which Lynx responds to him by saying he should not worry as it is normal for everyone to feel cold at first in the Mirror Maze. Galen realizes that he was fooled - he was supposed to become a demon following a contract he signed with them but instead, got eaten by them. Lynx is amazed to have successfully tricked him as according to him, controls are a way of control. He tells him that he could have signed one with the Ancients as well. Moreover, Lynx tells him that they demons crave freedom and chaos, but tells him not to beat himself up as it is not Galen who is stupid but it was Lynx who was very convincing. However, this does not matter Galen anyway since he outplayed him - Lynx desired Marcus's soul but he will not get it. Lynx is not worried in the least as they have got someone more interesting, who is none other than Shadow's Descendant. Xiang Tzu remembers the place he is in which used to be hotter previously. He asks Shadow's Descendant who they are as he does not recognize them, until he finally does. Shadow's Descendant gives him the same old and usual silent treatment, which makes Xiang Tzu sick. He then fights them to get at least a word out of their mouth, to no avail. Xiang Tzu proved to be victories. After beating Shadow's Descendant, Xiang Tzu suddenly remembers Galen telling him that Shadow's Descendant does not exist and says that he would never lose to him again. He realizes how the demons are fooling him by showing him mere images and wants them to show themselves - whether individually or together as they cannot beat him anyway. Lynx finally shows himself up and commends his skills which disregarding his looks which can be deceiving. Xiang Tzu likes Lynx's appearance as well. Lynx is happy to hear that and appreciates the mortal's taste, before Xiang Tzu tells him that he was talking about Butcher actually. He asks Butcher what he uses his knives for, to which Butcher responds "meat". Xiang Tzu appreciates his cleavers but tells him that they will not help, before challenging him to a fight to see what is capable of. Lynx mocks him for not fearing the demon of wrath, to which Xiang Tzu replies that he is no demon of wrath, but more like demon of sorrow, on whose soul something heavy is weighing for sure, much to Butcher's dismay. Lynx tells Xiang Tzu that they have no soul. Xiang Tzu is not afraid of either of them, who annoy him. He believed previously that if you die a hero, you will be surrounded by heroes, but this case, according to him, is completely the opposite. Butcher then orders them to stop and chatter and continue to the fight. The ultimate battle starts between Butcher and Xiang Tzu. Despite Butcher's enormous amount of strength and defense and completely unique shadow abilities, Xiang Tzu badly defeats Butcher and proves to be victorious over him. After being defeat, Butcher is impressed by Xiang Tzu's skills and chooses him. Conversely, Xiang Tzu wants to choose Butcher since the choice is not very significant, which shocks Lynx. Xiang Tzu then offers them his soul at the cost of learning to fight with Butcher's cleavers. In the meantime, the discussion of the trio with Ling still goes on. Kibo makes a vow to her master to not give up and sit idly by, even if things do not work out as she cannot let Xiang Tzu's sacrifice go waste, which Ling understands but asks her to let her wounds heal first before she can do anything else. Kibo, however, is still worried that they will never find June. Ling assures her that they will find her but not today. Kibo suddenly hears some bells, noticing someone coming - Itu. He has come to give Jet a job, which Jet accepts. The rigs all over the Wasteland lit up like beacons. Something was coming. But that is a story for another day.

Transformation: June's Plane[]

Xiang Tzu appears as the Mad Master who own a Mixed Martial Art school.

Two days after the prince/ss get poisoned by a Herald, they regains consciousness. The Emperor is relieved to see this but sadly, they have no time to rest. The Sphere is missing from the Temple, and if the Legion finds this out, they are doomed. They also have tortured the priest and obtained information that he had an appointment with The Mad Master, head of the Mixed Martial Arts school. They need to find out the connection between this man and Heralds.

The prince/ss arrives at Mixed Martial Arts school, where Phang is waiting for them. He then fills the prince/ss in about his plan: Because the prince/ss has not visited the capital for a long time, no one knows what the prince/ss looks like, even though they have heard about them. Prince/ss and Phang will pretend as spoiled aristocrats who offer their sponsorship to the school. If the prince/ss can beat The Mad Master's best students, he will see them personally, and Phang will do all the talking. As they defeat the students, Phang admits that he was never good at Legion fighting style, and that would be useful. More Legionaries moved to the Dynasty last few years. The Sarge the prince/ss fought at the tournament finale has a Dynastian wife. The Mad Master spent a lot of times in the Legion, but Phang does not know any details, as he is a private person.

Xiang Tzu, The Mad Master, finally shows himself. He knows they are from the Palace and instantly refuses to keep them as his students, as he does not like how the prince/ss looks. Phang then speaks to Xiang Tzu, telling him they meant no disrespect and they have walked a long way here. Xiang Tzu asks what Phang wants, as he does not want nobles in his school; it is bad for other students and he cares about this place. Phang convinces Xiang Tzu that his school has potential - mixed martial arts are the sweetest fruit of the Alliance, maybe the only sweet one. Xiang Tzu is still not interested, so Phang offers investments and more students, as well as someone who can watch his back from the Palace. Xiang Tzu then agrees, only if the prince/ss can beat him. The prince/ss emerges victorious, and Xiang Tzu likes that they know how to fight madly. After Phang mentions the secret pass phrase, Xiang Tzu is finally convinced and he takes them both to his master

Xiang Tzu takes the prince/ss and Phang to the Resistance camp, located on a fortified bamboo grove. The Mad Master then introduces them to his master, General Marcus. The general welcomes them both and takes them into the camp. Inside the camp, a Resistance member named Yukka asks Xiang Tzu his progress with Heralds. He tells her that the priest did not show up at all, but thankfully they have new benefactors here. Yukka comments that the Herald travelers they captured have shadow energy, which she refers as superb weapons and she has given it to her Insusceptibles group. Marcus states that he does not need these things, which he refers as demonic weapons. After Xiang Tzu shows Marcus the shadow energy capability by having an Insusceptible warrior fight the prince/ss, Marcus is impressed by both the prince's/ss' fighting prowess and the shadow energy. Yukka then suggests that they return an old Herald captive - whom they assume to be the leader of Heralds - back to Heralds and unite with them to end the Alliance. Marcus disagrees with her, as he does not fully trust Heralds, although he indeed sees no point in keeping this old captive anymore. Xiang Tzu agrees with Marcus' last point, suggesting the old captive to be done away for good, while wondering what they should do about the prince/ss and Phang. Marcus reminds him they will not decide anything without the Guardian's opinion, who is currently questioning the old captive.

Transformation: Marcus' Plane[]

Xiang Tzu make appearance at Marcus's Plane as a minor character.

General and his/her party go to the Eternal Rest, only to find out that these folks have settled near them, which was forbidden to enter as it is sacred. Scout reveals that they have turned this sacred place into an arena and they fight for their own enjoyment. Suddenly, a young man named Xiang Tzu comes to see the party when he knew that they would come here, but he tells them to go away from there. Greta wonders what the small boy is doing here and thinks that he must be from the Steppe. She asks him where his parents are. Xiang Tzu answers that his parents were killed by the Crimson Army soldiers. He then gets happy to see the general and fights them to take the revenge for killing his parents.

However, the General has an upper hand over him thanks to the buff they had chosen earlier and defeats him. After that, Fangirl comes and sees that the Crimson Army general has beaten up a boy and asks Ironclad if he had seen that. Ironclad corrects her and tells to stop yelling as Xander is a man. He is the one who is responsible for training him, so he did well in his point of view. Xiang Tzu, who becomes disappointed, requests him to forgive him but Ironclad tells that they will work on his right punch later.

Finale: The Gates of Shadows[]

Xiang Tzu takes the important role in the Epilogue, as part of the resistance led by May against the Descendant and one part of the memory shard to summon the Hero.

Xiang Tzu attempts to beat up Kitsune-1, as he thinks that she works for the Descendant, but she tells him that she does not have any work going on with the Descendant. This goes on like this until Ironclad intervenes and saves her. However, Kitsune says that both of them are of no use to her mistress as they do not wish to submit to the Descendant.

After May capture the Accelerator and freed Mnemos, The Descendant has sent the shadowtroops to suppress the Resistance group and recapture the Accelerator. Kibo, arrived in time reports about this, but not in a proper way. This enraged Marcus who was calmed down by Itu. Kibo says that they have almost made it into the Accelerator and Ironclad, Xiang Tzu and Azuma fights with the troops to clear their path for them.

Xiang Tzu did everything in his power to bring me back the best part of me to this world. I hope I'm still a worthy opponent for you, Mad Master.
–The Hero Note #19

Xiang Tzu begins by asking who the Hero is and is irritated by people taking their name everywhere. Xiang Tzu also asks about their fight and victory experiences. Mnemos tells Xiang Tzu that the Hero defeated him three times in one world, which made the latter surprised. Mnemos then shows him the town he grew up in. The war there did not stop but became less violent for a while. Legionaires showed up on the streets during quiet times. Xiang Tzu says that he does not know how but he remembers those Legionaires. He did not like Gizmo, so he indulged himself and made it prettier. Xiang Tzu then fights him and prevails over him. Xiang Tzu tells Mnemos the reason for fighting as he was in bad mood that day because of the other Legionary. June brought a vagrant to their dojo the same day, the Hero. The master immediately declared them his best student, although he saw them for the first time in his life, and he even lost to them.

The teacher always gave me the dirtiest job in the dojo. Everyone laughed at me, especially the girls.
–Xiang Tzu remember the voices in his head

He remembers his teacher, Kibo who says that he is always messing with their business and it is time to put an end to it. June suggests her that it would be better to complain about him to the master instead so that Xiang Tzu will have to sweep the yard all day. He was always insulted by his teacher, giving him the dirtiest job in the dojo, which made everyone laugh, especially the girls. He tells further that he followed one of the girls, Kibo and spotted her illegal dojo, though he loved it. He threatened Kibo that he would disclose her illegal dojo to Galen if she did not teach him all the Herald stuff. Kibo, under pressure and fear, gave in to his demands. Xiang Tzu then fights Azuma at Kibo's dojo with a glaive Kibo gave him. Before fight, Azuma tells that he has an order to cleanse the building of shadow pollution from the mayor, but he instead ordered the feldsher to leave, otherwise he will not spare him if he even squeaks to his superiors about their dojo. The two then fight and Xiang Tzu was not so good at new Heralds fighting style as he constantly trips and falls off while executing the combo. Despite that, he beats the feldsher. Xiang Tzu tells Mnemos that Kibo threw him out of the dojo instead of appreciating his efforts. She was always a traitor and he was wrong to believe that he and Kibo were friends as she was friends with June and that stranger.

After that, the Tournament of a Hundred Schools began and he lost to them again. Mnemos finds it strange that the Hero defeated him one time after the other. But the latter does not remember those fights and does not find anything strange about it. When he gets angry, he does not remember anything at all, like a red haze in his head. The Hero had a talent of making him furious and they were always silent. The Hero even ruined his life, got into all kinds of trouble which ended up in the Legionary jail. He then started fighting in the Pit as there was a Pit fighter who made him angry too. He remembers him to be Ironclad and beats him up too. After this fight, Millenium Wolf shows up to Xiang Tzu and tells him that he is a stranger in these lands but he has shown an intransigence worthy of the North and so, he blesses him with the gift of Fire. Mnemos asks him whether it was one of northern patriarchs. Xiang Tzu does not know as he was just some guy with burning hands. He believes himself to be the only one who saw him.

You are a stranger in these lands. But you have shown in intransigence worthy of the North. I bless you with the gift of Fire, wanderer.
–Millenium Wolf blessed Xiang Tzu

Since then, he loses control over himself in battles. He has unbearable heat around him until he wins. He changed quite a lot during these times and he will be ready when he sees them again. Xiang Tzu was talking about the Hero who now remembers how important that was. He could not sleep half of the nights. He hated the Legion and made them all pay, even Gizmo, whom he met five or seven years later again. He was all covered in shade. He used to bring his erasers to their hideouts and kill everybody but Xiang Tzu managed to get to him one day. Xiang Tzu fights the overpowered Gizmo once again and once again proves to be victorious against him. After the fight, Mnemos asks Xiang Tzu the name of the shard of the Hero in his soul which has changed its shape forever. Xiang Tzu answers Xander as the Legionaries could not pronounce his name properly and called him Xander. He proved himself to be better than the Legion, but not better than the Hero. He vows to be even better than them and master every style in the world. He needs a proper opponent, so he tells Mnemos to bring them back. A shard of the Hero is collected.

At the Tournament's finale, where he is fought as the second boss of Chapter II, Xiang Tzu utilizes the Herald's style and also makes use of four Shadow Abilities. Players must win three rounds against him in order to win the fight. Xiang Tzu is a "unique" enemy, in the sense that he is not very good with his new weapon, the Glaive. He will often drop his Glaive while getting into a fighting stance. He will also trip and fall while trying to pull a lot of combos, sometimes hitting himself as he goes down. However, Xiang Tzu may also damage the player when he loses control of his Glaive while executing combo moves.

Chapter VI[]

Ability[]

  • Gift of Fire
XanderRageStroke1

Xiang Tzu was called the Mad Master because he can let out all his Rage in the fight. This ability was given by the Millenium Wolf himself during his wandering in the north. With this, he can fill up his Fire bar every time he takes damage. The rage bar can be fully filled only with a combo of 4 hits, regardless of the damage. The Fire meter whittles down if he does not take any damage. Once the fire bar is fully charged, Xiang Tzu cloaks himself in fire, increasing his attack power and defense significantly as well as preventing recoil from the player's attacks. The fire form lasts for 10 seconds. After losing one round, Xiang Tzu will beat his own head with his Staff to instantly enter the state when his Fire bar is filled by 75%. After losing two rounds, Xiang Tzu will pierce his own leg with his Sai to instantly enter the state when his Rage bar reaches 50%. Every time Xiang Tzu hits himself up, he will take a small amount of damage.

  • Three Styles Master

Trivia[]

  • Xiang Tzu is armed with a Glaive after he becomes Kibo's Iron Beak disciple. He utilizes Triple Lunge, a special move that consists of three attacks. However, due to his lack of mastery, Xiang Tzu could not execute this move perfectly, ended up tripping with the Glaive and hitting himself in the head by his Glaive. Note that the tripping 4th hit is unblockable by the player, and the falling Glaive can hit the player should it land on top of them, and can deal a critical hit. Xiang Tzu himself takes a little bit of damage when he's hit by the Glaive.
  • Xiang Tzu is armed with three weapons as a prisoner: Sai, Common Staff, and Bloodletter's Blade. Unlike before, he is capable of utilizing up to four special moves (Turning Point, Barb Leap, Wooden Hailstorm and the Triple Style combo), without failing in the process. However, after each move he suffers from slightly slower start-up and recovery due to he having to pull the weapon(s) out and put them back behind.
  • Heralds and Triple Style Xiang Tzu also have a unique pre-fight animation.
  • Xiang Tzu's Pre-fight animation is from the winning animation from the Development Phase of Shadow Fight 3.
  • According to Xiang Tzu in Epilogue, he earns the name Xander the Immortal because Legionaries could not pronounce his name correctly.
